TDK D90New song online. We’re trying some new approaches to the whole song making process. Less programming and staring at computer screens for hours on end…but more fun and live tweaking, straight to tape (for now, a tape identical to the one on the left, still need to dust off the Revox) .. Now we’re actually gonna need to rehearse our songs, that’s gonna be weird, but we hope to catch that vibe we have when jamming. So here’s the first result of this approach, consider it a rough mix ;) no in the box mixing/mastering mumbo jumbo on this one. Let us know what you think of it in the comments.

new toy – MFB step64

13 Feb 2008 In: Synths and stuff

a new toy arrived in our studio last week. Still had no time to test it out yet, but it looks promising. Back to the good old days of midi step sequencers and running leds….

More info to be found at the mfb website.

(edit): got around to play with it yesterday evening and I must say it’s a pretty fun sequencer. It’s pretty intuitive in use (although it doesn’t look that way). The shift functions should have been labeled on the front panel though so I wouldn’t need to memorize as do some more advanced features. A clearer front panel labelling could solve most of this, maybe a few more leds to clear out the modes. Apart from that it’s all pretty straightforward in use and well thought out. For such a little device it’s quite packed with features. It’s nice to see that all cables for the CV/out where also in the package.

There we go, add some music to the thing here. This song was written after we went to a live show of autechre (quite an influence for both of us). It kinda shows, hope you enjoy it. Click on ‘read more’ to take a listen.
